치앙마이에서 열리고 있는 원예 전시회, 즉 로얄프롤라 라차브룩이 52일만에 2천만명의 관람객이 다녀갔다고 합니다. 지난 11월 1일부터 내년 1월 31일까지 치앙마이에서 열리고 있는 이 전시회는 지난 12월 22일 관람객 2000만명을 돌파했습니다. 행운의 주인공은 일본인으로 치앙마이 특급호텔인 소피틸의 2박숙박권을 비롯한 푸짐한 상품을 받았습니다. 이 전시회의 하루평균 관람객수는 4만명이고, 지난 12월 1일 1천만명을 돌파했습니다. 현 푸미폰국왕의 탄생 80주년과 즉위 60주년을 기념하기 위해 열리는 이 원예 전시회는 세계 각국의 2천2백종의 식물들의 전시되고 있습니다. 아래는 로얄플로라 라차부룩 프로젝트 팀에서 온 보도자료 원문입니다. Press Release Royal Flora Expo in Thailand Achieved Goal of Two Million Visitors in Just 52 Days. Chiang Mai, Thailand-December 22, 2006 “Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006,” International Horticultural Exposition for His Majesty the King, (November 1, 2006 – January 31, 2007,) in Chiang Mai, Thailand, welcomed the two millionth visitor on December 22, 2006, and, therefore, achieved its goal of receiving two million visitors within 92 days in just 52 days of the show. Mr. Jirakorn Kosaisaewee, Deputy Director-General of Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, presided over the welcome function in the morning of December 22, 2006. The two millionth visitor came through the gate at 11.30 AM, and the lucky guest is Mr. Sadatoshi Suzuki, from Shizuoka, Japan. As the two millionth visitor, Mr. Suzuki received a suite room for two nights at a five-star Sofitel Riverside Chiang Mai worth USD 890 and vouchers for food and beverages in the expo worth USD 250. He also received a good number of souvenirs from the expo as well as a VIP tour on an electric car around the expo. The total worth of prizes is USD 1,390. Mr. Suzuki said that he was very surprised and excited to receive such attention and many prizes. He said, “I do no know how to react to this just yet.” The average number of visitors per day of the “Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006” is 40,000. It welcomed the first millionth visitor on December 1, 2006. And 21 days later, it welcomed the second millionth visitor. In addition to beautiful gardens and rare species of over 2,200 species of 2.5 million plants and trees, the expo also attracts its visitors with activities and cultural performances. In January 2007, many highlighted activities will be held, including: - “Kad Muo,” a presentation of an ancient and genuine northern Thai marketplace where rare food and goods will be available during January 1-5, 2007. - Food festival on Jan 6-14 - Tea and coffee festival on Jan 11-14 - Children day on Jan 13 - Japan Day on Jan 13-17 - Spain Day on Jan 27-29 Additionally, every evening throughout the month of January, a special performance showcasing exciting lights, sound and special effects, called “Mountains Full of Stars. Sky Filled with Royal Flora.,” at the Royal Pavilion, one of the highlights of the expo. The show’s concept is a celebration of the success of the expo. Organized on 80 hectares, in Chiang Mai, a northern province of Thailand, during November 1, 2006 – January 31, 2007, the event is recognized as an “A1 international horticultural exhibition” by the International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) and the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH). 32 country governments from five continents have confirmed to pay homage to His Majesty the King by building “International Gardens” with their unique arts of garden designs complete with imported plants and flowers and architecture. 51 provinces from across Thailand have confirmed to bring 218 rare plant species and 87 cultural dances, music, and other performances to the expo. Additionally, 22 domestic governmental organizations, state enterprises, and private conglomerates are building gardens in honor of His Majesty the King. These gardens are in a zone called “Corporate Gardens.” Other highlights of the expo include the biggest variety of orchids in “Orchids Pavilion”; tropical fruit trees in “Fruit Pavilion”; local wisdoms on usage of herbs and spa in “Herb Pavilion.” 2.5 million trees of 2,200 species will be featured in the expo. Cultural performances from 9 countries will also be on stage. During the past 60 years, His Majesty the King, who in May 2006 was presented with the United Nations Development Program's First Human Development Lifetime Achievement Award by the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and in June 2006 was presented with the title the “Father of Thai Innovation” by the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology, has created thousands of agricultural theories which have led to thousands more of royal projects. These projects have helped improve water management and restoration, reforestation, soil restoration, and quality of living of His people. And these royal projects and theories will be displayed in an exhibition called “An Agricultural King-The Brilliance that Benefits the Thai People.” This exhibition will be organized throughout the “Royal Flora Ratchaphruek 2006” in a special architecture called “Royal Pavilion.” The “Royal Pavilion” is a two-storey building designed with Lanna architecture.
